I was an angry child. My anger was demonised, and for a long time I hated myself for it. It took me years to understand that the fire was never the problem. No one around me could meet it.
In this episode, I go into the fire. Anger is a cultural construct: irritated, disembodied, rootless energy that destabilises the system. Rage is primordial. It lives in the bones, it's ancestral and collectively held, and when it's rooted, it charges your body rather than depleting it. Rage is matriarchal in nature, made of the same force that brings life into being and moves life into its next chapter.
We explore: · The difference between anger and rooted rage · The mother wound as the place where the inner flame almost went out, and mother repair as tending that flame · Why rage and grief move in tandem, and why rage so often guards the grief · The cultural, familial and ancestral conditioning that teaches women rage is bad, and who that serves · The Irish keening tradition, where fury and sorrow were sung together, in community · A guided somatic practice for rooting the fire and tending the flame
